As a lifelong Star Wars fan I was thrilled to see this -- and have to agree. I've not really considered the organization of societies and the repeated pattern of organization that it uses. I love the idea of using futures thinking to consider the way in which the societies and structures of different worlds can represent ways of seeing possibilities and just how limited those are in Star Wars. There aren't that many well-adjusted societies, are there? That said, the 'long, time ago' part of the story perhaps suggests that George Lucas and the other creators of the universe of Star Wars are thinking about times past, not times future (in spite of the space theme). It's this dirty, rough, and old-feel that makes Star Wars stand out.

What a great piece.
